Heritage

Autumn Nelon stands as both a torchbearer and a visionary, carrying forward one of Gospel Music’s most cherished legacies, while also shaping its future with grace and purpose. Rooted in a rich musical heritage, her story is inseparable from that of The Nelons - a group founded by her grandfather, Rex Nelon, in 1997. as The Rex Nelon Singers before evolving into the beloved ensemble known as The Nelons. Over the decades, the group became a cornerstone of Gospel Music, featuring an extraordinary roster of talent including Karen Peck, Janet Paschal, Charlotte Ritchie, Jeff Stice, Stan Whitmire, Todd Nelon, and Autumn’s parents, Jerry Thompson and Kelly Nelon Clark.

Following Rex Nelon’s passing, Kelly Nelon Clark faithfully carried the family’s musical legacy forward, preserving its spirit while guiding it into a new generation. In time, her daughters, Amber and Autumn, joined her - each contributing their distinctive voices and artistry to the group’s enduring sound.

In 2024, tragedy struck with a plan crash claimed the lives of Kelly and Amber, as well as others, forever altering the course of the Nelon family story. In the face of the unimaginable loss, Autumn emerged with quiet strength, unwavering faith, and continues the mission that has defined her family for generations.
